From rows of traditional canal houses to bicycles, waterside streets and glowing evening skies, each composition celebrates the details that make the city so recognisable. Frequently Asked Questions
Which parts of Amsterdam can Nigel include in a commission?
Your artwork can feature almost any area of the city. Popular ideas include canal houses, the Magere Brug, Dam Square, Amsterdam Centraal, waterside cafés, bicycles and quieter residential streets.
Nigel can also combine several meaningful details within one composition rather than copying a single photograph exactly.
Can the colours be adapted to suit my room?
Yes. The palette can be discussed before work begins, allowing the artwork to complement the space in which it will be displayed.
You may prefer warm sunset shades, cooler blues and greys, brighter contemporary colours or a more restrained finish. Nigel will share ideas and colour references during the commission process.
Can my own photographs be used?
Personal photographs are very helpful, particularly when the commission relates to a memorable trip, proposal, anniversary or family occasion.
Several images can be used as references, allowing Nigel to bring together the strongest elements and create a composition rather than simply producing a direct copy.
Are frames included with Amsterdam commissions?
Framing options will be discussed as part of your quotation. As the frame can add approximately 20cm to the finished height and width, it is worth measuring your available wall space before choosing the canvas dimensions.
Nigel can advise on proportions that will work well within the area you have available.
How will my Amsterdam painting be packaged?
Finished artwork is carefully prepared for transport and sent using a specialist art courier. The delivery is insured and tracked, helping to protect the piece throughout its journey.
UK and international delivery can be arranged, with any applicable shipping costs confirmed within your quotation.
